Swaziland appoints new Prime Minister

October 16, 2008

Swaziland's King Mswati III has appointed Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini as Prime Minister. The announcement was made at the Ludzidzini Royal Kraal near the capital, Mbabane.
This will be Dlamini's second term as Prime Minister. He served his first term between 1996 and 2003. His administration was characterised by the en-masse resignation of a panel of judges at the Court of Appeal and a breakdown and common disregard of the rule of law.
However, King Mswati has urged the kingdom to support the Prime Minister and to work together with government to ensure progress and development in the country.
