Burundi to open domestic sugar market
Burundi is preparing to end years of monopolisation in its domestic sugar market, according to Africa News.
Though the country produces 20,000 metric tonnes per year, more than the 15,000 tonnes per year it consumes, much of it is smuggled into better paying foreign markets, leaving a large supply gap annually.
