Indian investors arrive in Zambia

A five member Indian delegation is in Zambia to explore investment opportunities in various sectors.

Speaking during a courtesy call on Commerce Minister Felix Mutati at his office Friday evening , the minister said the group from the Sandesara Group of companies is in the country to explore investment opportunities in the mining, energy and tourism among other sectors.

He said the investment opportunities being explored by the group would yield the desired results for the country’s economy.

Mr. Mutati said once the group establishes the itself in Zambia, the investment would translate into job and wealth creation.

He noted that the coming of investors to Zambia is also an indication that that the country has continued attracting investments and still remains a key investment destination.

And Sandesara Group of companies Chairperson Nitin Sandesara disclosed that his group has over 5 million dollars in assets and intends to invest an initial maximum of 100 million dollars once an area of investment is identified before the end of 2008.

Mr. Sandesara said his group is happy with government’s support so far.
