Global investors to meet in Cairo between November 15 and 17

The African Venture Capital Association, will be holding its Eighth Annual Conference in Cairo, Egypt, between November 15 and 17, with the theme Africa: the Growth Continent for Private Equity Investment Opportunities 2010 and Beyond.

Rotimi Oyekanmi, the association's Chairman, said on Monday in Lagos that this year's theme "seeks to highlight the significant investment opportunities that abound across Africa, as Africa is believed to be the final frontier where you can still achieve above average returns."

Ahmed Heikal, the founder and chairman of the conference and co-host Citadel Capital, said "There has never been a more interesting time for confident investors to venture into our continent. From unique transportation and logistics plays, to agri-foods and micro finance, Africa is home to outstanding investment opportunities that build wealth for both investors and the communities in which we do business..," as IMF's recent statistics show Africa growing at a 4.1 percent pace in 2010, while advanced economies will grow just 0.6 percent. This is against a projected a world average of 2.5 percent growth for next year.

The plenary sessions will cover topics on how Africa compares to other emerging markets, in terms of financial services, agribusiness and infrastructure and power will be looked at in detail, highlighting the investment opportunities and potential for private equity investors.
