China has identified Kenya in the East Africa region as an emerging market for the Chinese automobile industry.
Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Zhang Ming noted that besides its increased growth in demand for automobile, Kenya was well positioned as a hub to the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (Comesa).
Zhang said the bilateral trade cooperation that China continued to have with Kenya has created a favorable market for the Chinese automobile industry as well as investment opportunities for Chinese investors.
“I believe this cooperation will not only strengthen our economic partnership on mutual benefits, but also stimulate Kenya auto industry and provide more employment opportunities to the local community,” he said at an international exhibition for auto parts and accessories in Nairobi on Friday.
Zhang noted that the automobile parts industry in East Africa, especially in Kenya, had begun to develop at an increasing speed, a factor that would stimulate the process of industrialization.
