Uganda: First lady appointed minister

The First lady of Uganda, Janet Museveni, was on Monday appointed to the cabinet by the President Yoweri Museveni in a cabinet ministerial reshuffle. Janet made her entry into parliament as the Member of Parliament for Ruhaama County. She joins the cabinet as the minister of state for Karamoja affairs.

While on a tour of the West Nile-President Museveni reshuffled his cabinet. His brother General Salim Saleh though retained as a Senior Advisor to the President lost his cabinet post. He was the minister for finance in charge of micro finance.

Other ministers also lost their cabinets post while new ones made their entry. Aggrey Awori-Member of Parliament for Samia Bugwe North and brother to former Kenyan 9th Vice President -Moody Awori was among the new appointees.

He defected and joined Museveni much earlier and now has been rewarded as the information, communications and technology minister.

President Yoweri Museveni made the changes acting in pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by Articles 113(2) and 114(3) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda (1995).
