His Excellency Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, the Prime Minister of Mauritius called on President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana today. Both countries reiterated the desire to strengthen bilateral relations. Possible areas of cooperation discussed include water management, traffic management and urban planning. The Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) will also undertake the implementation of a national identity card system for Mauritius.
Prime Minister Lee and His Excellency Dr Ramgoolam witnessed the signing of a new Air Services Agreement, which replaces an earlier Agreement signed in February 1984. Following the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Lee hosted a working lunch in honour of His Excellency Dr Ramgoolam.
His Excellency Dr Ramgoolam leaves for Mauritius tomorrow morning.
